Fifth Osprey Platform Installed at Hammonasset

Two dozen hearty volunteers from Menunkatuck and Friends of Hammonasset braved the below 0°F wind chill Sunday, January 15, to install a fifth osprey platform at Hammonasset. The new platform replaces one that was in such poor condition that it had not been used for nesting in several years. The location for the nest site is about 150 yards from the Willards Island observation platform which should afford good views of nesting birds.
